Client FAQ

Everything you'd want to ask before booking.

If your question isn't answered here, ask — it'll probably end up on this page for the next person.

Before your session

I've never had a massage before. What actually happens?+

You'll fill out a short intake, we'll talk for a few minutes about your body and goals, then you'll have privacy to undress to your comfort level and get under the sheet. I knock before entering. From there, it's a full hour of skilled hands-on work with clear communication throughout.

What should I wear?+

Undress to whatever comfort level feels right. Most clients undress fully and stay covered by a sheet — only the area being worked on is uncovered at any time. Underwear stays on for some clients and off for others. Both are normal and welcomed.

Should I eat before?+

A light meal 60–90 minutes before is ideal. Avoid arriving very full or very hungry. Hydrate normally — 'flushing toxins' is a myth, but a well-hydrated body simply responds better to bodywork.

Should I shower first?+

It's kind, not required. If you're coming straight from a workout, a quick rinse is appreciated but no one is judging.

During your session

How much pressure will you use?+

Sports massage generally works at 'productive discomfort' — firm enough to make change, never so hard you're bracing or holding your breath. Pain doesn't equal progress. Your feedback shapes every session.

Will you talk to me the whole time?+

No. Some clients like to check in throughout; others want silence. Either is welcome. The one thing I'll always speak up about is pressure, positioning, and any area I'd like to spend more time on.

What if I'm ticklish, sensitive, or don't want a certain area touched?+

Just say so on the intake or at any point during the session. Boundaries are respected without question or negotiation.

I have a condition (pregnancy, injury, recent surgery, medication) — can I still book?+

In many cases, yes, with modifications. Please mention it when booking so we can decide together whether massage is appropriate right now, and adjust the work accordingly.

After your session

Why do I feel sore the next day?+

Some post-session soreness is normal, especially after deep tissue work — similar to how you feel after a moderate workout. It typically fades in 24–48 hours. If soreness is sharp, lingering, or feels like a new injury, tell me so we can adjust next time.

How often should I come in?+

Depends on training load and goals. Athletes in heavy season often benefit from every 1–2 weeks; general maintenance is usually every 3–6 weeks. We'll build a rhythm that fits your body, not a package we're trying to sell.

Can I train after?+

Light movement — a walk, easy spin, mobility work — is great. Skip max-effort or heavy load sessions for at least 24 hours after deep work; your tissue is in an adapting state.

Booking & policies

What does it cost?+

$90 for a full 60-minute session. That's the rate — no upsells, no packages you didn't ask for.

What's your cancellation policy?+

24 hours' notice, please. Life happens — genuine emergencies are always handled with grace. Repeated late cancellations may require pre-payment for future bookings.

Do you take insurance?+

Not directly. On request I can provide a superbill you can submit to your provider or HSA/FSA account.
